January 18, 2007 - Two local youth, Leland Machen and Matthew Mann, who were selected in a drawing sponsored by the Mathews Maritime Foundation to spend a week aboard the Schooner Virginia in August of 2006, will relate their experiences on this sailing adventure.

February 15, 2007 - Local resident Captain Bill Hayes, a retired Navy diver will relate his experiences on ocean salvage operations.

March 15, 2007 - Mathews resident Glenna Hudgins will tell of her father’s life and career as a lighthouse keeper on the Chesapeake Bay.

April 19, 2007 - Graham Baker, noted expert on sea rescue and lifesaving techniques will discuss life boats and lifesaving techniques and procedures for ocean going vessels.

May 17, 2007 - We’ll wind up this series of lectures with another round table. This one to feature Mathews men and women who had careers as captains of vessels transiting coastal and inland waters as merchant seamen or working watermen.

Venues for each lecture in the series will be announced in the Gazette-Journal and the Daily Press prior to each lecture.
